01. Dallas World Aquarium
A for-profit aquarium and zoo. Was opened in October 1992. The upper level of the aquarium is an artificial reproduction of the Orinoco Rainforest. The lower level houses aquaria featuring fish, sea anemones, coral, jellyfish, and other sea animals from around the world.
02. Dealey Plaza
The location of the assassination of John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. Was named a National Historic Landmark in 1993 to preserve Dealey Plaza, street rights-of-way, and buildings and structures by the plaza visible from the assassination site.
03. Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden
A 66-acre botanical garden. A series of gardens and fountains. Among the plants and horticulture is a collection of azaleas that includes 2,400 varieties. The Dallas climate allows visitors to find flowers in bloom year round.
04. Dallas Zoo
A 106-acre (43 ha) zoo. Established in 1888, it is the oldest and largest zoological park in Texas. Home to over 2,000 animals representing 406 species. The zoo’s first purchase was two deer and two mountain lions for from a private seller.
05. Nasher Sculpture Center
A museum that houses one of the finest collections of modern and contemporary sculpture in the world, the Raymond and Patsy Nasher Collection, featuring more than 300 masterpieces by Calder, de Kooning, di Suvero. An urban oasis in the heart of the city.
06. Klyde Warren Park
A 5.2-acre (2.1 ha) public park. Over the Woodall Rodgers Freeway, and opened in 2012. Named for Klyde Warren, the young son of billionaire Kelcy Warren. Unlike other public parks within the city, Klyde Warren Park has operating hours from 6am to 11pm.
07. Reunion Tower
A 561 ft (171 m) observation tower and one of the most recognizable landmarks in Dallas. Was completed in 1978. The observation deck reopened October 5, 2013, just in time for the Tower’s 35th anniversary.
08. Pioneer Plaza
A large public park. Contains a large sculpture and is a heavily visited tourist site. 49 bronze steers and 3 trail riders sculptures. All together the sculpture is the largest bronze monument of its kind in the world.
09. Frontiers of Flight Museum
An aerospace museum. Founded in 1988. eatures an extensive collection of aviation history artifacts and vehicles, and focuses on the history of aviation and space exploration with an emphasis on the role of the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
10. Lone Star Park
One of the premier entertainment destinations in the city. A horse racing track. Has two live racing seasons every year, The Spring Thoroughbred Season – from early April through mid-July and the Fall Meeting of Champions generally – early September through mid-November.
